"Sleep in Heavenly Peace (SHP) is the leading national non-profit dedicated to building and delivering beds to children in need. Our mission is simple: NO KID SLEEPS ON THE FLOOR IN OUR TOWN!® With millions of children sleeping on floors, couches, or makeshift spaces, we know a bed is a basic need for a child’s well-being, supporting their physical, emotional and mental development. Powered by volunteer kindness and donor generosity, we’re growing our impact across the U.S. and beyond so every child can Sleep Well and DREAM BIG."
Beyond the bed, SHP provides full bedding and accessories catered to each child to make them feel seen and considered. More than just a place to sleep, each bed provides a sense of comfort, security, and belonging. A personal sanctuary where children can rest, feel safe, and dream of a brighter future. There is nothing quite like seeing the reaction when a child lays down in their new bed for the first time. The smile on their face, the excitement in their eyes, and the joy of knowing they finally have a space to call their own.
The Syracuse chapter of SHP was founded in 2018, and is now a growing group of volunteers dedicated to building, assembling and delivering beds to children (ages 3-17) in need in the greater Syracuse and Oswego City area. We believe in sharing the need with the community and then providing ways for the community to help meet that need, delivering over 8,000 beds to those in need since our chapter was founded.
